The standards our journalism is held to.
- Accuracy first. We check facts before publishing and correct mistakes promptly and openly.
- Fairness. People and organisations we report on are given a fair chance to respond.
- Independence. Advertisers, owners and sources do not decide what we publish. Sponsored material is always labelled.
- Separation of news and opinion. Editorials and columns appear under Opinion.
- Privacy and harm. We weigh the public interest against the harm a story may cause, with special care for children and victims.
- Attribution. We credit the work of other publications and name our sources wherever we can.
